The injury bug simply couldn’t stay away from the UFC Fight Night 130 event, which is set to go down this Sunday (May 27, 2018) in Liverpool, England. According to MMA NYTT’s Jim Edwards, a Bantamweight showdown between Manny Bermudez and Davey Grant has been scrapped just three days away from fight night after Grant came down with a staph infection.
It’s the latest blow for Grant, who was ready to make his long-awaited return to the Octagon after over a year and a half way from action, as he was last seen losing to Damian Stasiak at UFC 204 in Oct. 2016. As for Bermudez, he was looking to improve on his undefeated record (11-0, 1-0 UFC), though no word on if the promotion will look to find him a new foe on just three days notice.
UFC Fight Night 130 will be headlined by a Welterweight showdown that will see Darren till look to take out Stephen Thompson in front of his hometown crowd. To see who else is fighting at the Fox Sports 1-televised event click here.
