Pic: Hospitalized Cro Cop reveals knee injury that torpedoed Bellator 200 main event

A post shared by Mirko Filipović (@crocop1009) on

Former PRIDE FC open-weight grand prix champion, Mirko Filipovic, blew out his knee and was forced to withdraw from this Friday night’s Bellator 200 event on the Paramount Network, scheduled for SSE Arena in London, England.

More on that news here.

“Cro Cop” used his official Instagram account to update fans on his surgery, as well as his plans to make yet another mixed martial arts (MMA) comeback, promising to return stronger than ever.

The 43-year-old Croat (36-11-2) was slated to rematch former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) rival Roy Nelson, who is not expected to compete this weekend across the pond.

No word yet on the timeline of Filipovic’s recovery, but with job offers from both Bellator MMA and RIZIN FF in Japan, there’s a strong chance we’ll see the former kickboxer back in action for one (or both) of the promotions at the end of the year.

Until then, it’s ice cream and reruns.
