Submission! Watch Tatiana Suarez choke out Alexa Grasso in the first at UFC Chile

The fifth first-round finish last night (Sat., May 19, 2018) at UFC Fight Night 129 from inside Movistar Arena in Santiago, Chile, went to women’s strawweight contender Tatiana Suarez when she choked out promising youngster Alexa Grasso in the first round.

Despite being ranked lower at 115 pounds, Suarez came into the fight as the betting favorite, which ringed true once the two ladies locked up. Suarez was able to work through Grasso’s defense on the mat to grab a hold of her back, sink her hooks in, and squeeze Grasso’s neck until the 24-year-old tapped to the rear-naked choke.

With this performance, Suarez improves her professional record to 7-0, which includes three separate first-round submission finishes. Suarez is a real blue chip prospect at the strawweight level and could start to threaten the top five by year’s end.
