Opening up the UFC Fight Night 129 main card earlier tonight (Sat., May 19, 2018) on FOX Sports 1 from inside Movistar Arena in Santiago, Chile, was a beautiful first-round finish by welterweight Vicente Luque as the Brazilian put a quick stop to Canadian Chad Laprise via first-round knockout.
Both fighters had their moments in the early going, but the end of the first round was owned by Luque. During a close-knit exchange of punches, the Brazilian caught “Disciple” with a stiff left hand counter. Laprise dropped to the canvas and Luque followed suit with hard ground-and-pound, eventually ending the former lightweight with less than one minute on the clock.

With this performance, Luque improves his UFC record to 6-2, having finished all of those wins by way of knockout or submission. The 26-year-old is extremely dangerous on the ground and on the feet, and will likely keep evolving his skills heading into his prime. The 170-pound division is stacked beyond belief, but Luque could mature into a top 10 threat.
