The action started off with a bang earlier tonight (Sat., May 19, 2018) at UFC Fight Night 129 from inside Movistar Arena in Santiago, Chile, when 22-year-old lightweight prospect Claudio Puelles pulled off an insane come-from-behind victory by submitting Felipe Silva via third-round kneebar.
Silva commanded all of the action from the opening bell. He had to temporarily defend a submission attempt here and there, but he walked down Puelles on the feet with huge combinations, body shots, knees in the clinch, and eventually ground-and-pound when the young 155-pound fighter fell to the canvas.
While it seemed like Silva was going to cruise to a unanimous decision win or even a late-fight finish, it was Puelles who sneakily grabbed a hold of Silva’s leg midway through the third. Puelles rolled over into position, started to crank, and didn’t let go until Silva tapped.

With this performance, Puelles gets back into the win column after dropping his Octagon debut to Martin Bravo via second-round TKO. Puelles certainly has a lot of work to do with his striking and three-round conditioning, but this finish goes to show how dangerous the grappler remains at any point in a fight.
