Tito Ortiz wants Chuck Liddell in October, calls trilogy ‘hugest fight in MMA history’

Whether or not you believe Tito Ortiz and Chuck Liddell should be fighting again, you’re not going to miss the action if they really do.

After Ortiz answered Oscar de La Hoya’s call for a trilogy fight with Liddell by officially coming out of retirement earlier this month, the anticipated grudge match is really starting to pick up steam.

Heck, oddsmakers have already named Ortiz the betting favorite.

As for the fight itself, Ortiz feels confident he can avenge two previous knockout defeats to “Iceman” and prove that different circumstances can lead to different outcomes.

“Tito Ortiz vs. Chuck Liddell 3: the fight that all the fans wanted to see,” Ortiz said during a recent interview with TMZ Sports (shown above). “I never got a fair shake when I was with UFC against Chuck. Any of the times I’ve ever fought against him.”

“But let’s do it under a different promotion,” Ortiz continued. “Let’s do it under Golden Boy Promotions. He [de La Hoya] has a great background in promoting fights. Some of the biggest fights in the world. And he bit on it, hook, line, and sinker. He’s in.”

When asked if the potential trilogy fight is just hearsay, Ortiz was extremely confident that it’s actually going to happen.

“100 percent,” said Ortiz. “This is all in Chuck’s hands right now. He’s the one who has to make the decision. I know I want to do it. Oscar wants to do it. Oscar wants to be the promotion. We want to give the fans the best fight they possibly could have and that’s Tito Ortiz vs. Chuck Liddell 3.”

While Ortiz was unable to give a location for the potential bout, he did say all parties are aiming to get the deal done for October-November, adding that he and Liddell would likely do a world tour leading up to the fight.

“I feel healthy,” Ortiz said. “I have a great surgeon out of Las Vegas that put me together. I’m the Million Dollar Man. Now let’s make a couple more million kicking Chuck Liddell’s ass.

“This is going to build and be the hugest fight in MMA history,” Ortiz added. “Mark my words.”

Well, was this enough to spark your interest for now?
