We are under two months away from the biggest mixed martial arts (MMA) card of the year and Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is beginning to churn out the marketing material.
While most breathing combat fight fans already have their calendars marked for UFC 226 on July 7 live on pay-per-view (PPV) from inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, the promotion felt obliged to release a fairly glorious fight poster earlier today.
Check above for UFC 226’s first official paper trail.
The main event, of course, is a heavyweight title fight pitting current UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic against current UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier. It is a true superfight for the ages, and one that will mark the first time a 205-pound titleholder is moving up to challenge the heavyweight throne.
Not to be forgotten is a co-main event clash between current UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway and undefeated contender Brian Ortega. Considering Holloway is coming off back-to-back title victories over Jose Aldo and “T-City” just became the first fighter ever to finish the great Frankie Edgar, their UFC 226 showdown may be the biggest fight in division history outside of Aldo vs. Conor McGregor.
Not featured on the above poster is a slew of high-octane main card and preliminary encounters, including Francis Ngannou vs. Derrick Lewis, Anthony Pettis vs. Michael Chiesa, Uriah Hall vs. Paulo Costa, and Yancy Medeiros vs. Mike Perry, just to name a few.
What say you, Maniacs? Does this poster do UFC 226 justice?
