The fallout continues from today’s UFC 223 media day, thanks to Conor McGregor and his squad of “Notorious” goons, who turned an ordinary press event into a backstreet rumble complete with injuries and broken windows.
Watch the video replay here.
One of those aforementioned goons was identified as featherweight slugger Artem Lobov, a longtime friend and training partner of McGregor’s. “The Russian Hammer” was recently mixed up with Khabib Nurmagomedov (video), which may have led to the retaliation from the Irish posse.
Lobov has been removed from the card, according to promotion president Dana White, leaving Alex Caceres without a date to the big dance.
“Rose Namajunas was apparently almost hit, she is super upset right now, she left and walked back to hotel,” White told MMA Junkie. “Broke one of our employees knuckles, and other injuries. Obviosuly everybody is shaken up when 30 thugs storm in.”
Rose Namajunas has decided to stay on the card, I’m told. She is feeling better.

Lightweight veteran Michael Chiesa, expected to fight Anthony Pettis on Saturday night’s (April 7, 2018) pay-per-view (PPV) main card (see the line up here), was hospitalized with multiple lacerations, a result of shattered glass in the van that was transporting him. The status of his “Showtime” fight is unknown at this time.
As for McGregor, he’s currently wanted by Brooklyn police and is expected to turn himself in at some point later today. No question his future in UFC is in jeopardy, but White stopped short of calling him released.
Stay tuned.
