So here is another one of those awful stories I hate to share.
Brazilian mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter, Adriano “Mamute” Santana, was shot in the face, then stabbed to death in his home on Tuesday in Belem, Brazil, after three armed assailants broke into his house.
His wife and nine-year-old son, forced to hand over their cell phones, were witnesses to the crime, according to a report from Globo.
Mamute ran to his room, where his companion and his 9-year-old son were, but he was pursued by the criminals, who, arriving in the room, went to Hadrian. The victim would have asked for calm, but was shot with his face. He fell to the ground still alive.
The robbers ordered the cell phones of Hadrian and the woman. When they were leaving the house they realized that the fighter was still alive and returned to apply blows of knife to the chest of the victim who died in the place.
Police are currently investigating the murder but believe Santana was not specifically targeted. Aside from his combat sports career, the victim was also employed as a naval electrician.
