Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women’s bantamweight champion, Holly Holm, will try to keep her mixed martial arts (MMA) career afloat when she tangles with Megan Anderson at the upcoming UFC 225 pay-per-view (PPV) event, locked and loaded for June 9, 2018 inside United Center in Chicago, Illinois.
“The Preacher’s Daughter” (11-4) is just 1-4 since shocking the world with her upset win over Ronda Rousey in late 2015. Outside of tapping to Miesha Tate at UFC 196, the 36-year-old Holm has remained competitive in her decision losses.
But competitive is not enough to make a career.
“I know I got four losses out of the last five fights,” Holm told KRQE. “I like to always be honest with myself so that I don’t make excuses. A lot of those fights I could have done more to make them victories so that’s what I want to do. I pretty much do feel make or break. I feel like that with every fight in a way because I want that for myself.”
UFC wants that too, according to Cris Cyborg, albeit for very different reasons.
Anderson (8-2) captured four straight under the Invicta banner before signing with UFC, with all four victories ending by way of knockout. It remains to be seen if she can replicate those performances inside the Octagon, especially against a seasoned veteran like Holm.
