Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will be off for the next two weeks, which gives the promotion plenty of time to promote its next pay-per-view (PPV) offering.
And it’s stacked.
UFC 224 is all set to go down on Sat., May 12, 2018 from inside Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The event will be headlined by a women’s Bantamweight title fight that will see division queen Amanda Nunes defend her strap against Raquel Pennington in what will mark “Leoa’s” second-ever title defense.
Pennington has been quietly climbing the ranks, and will finally get her first-ever shot at a UFC world title against one of the most lethal strikers in all of the division.
In the co-main event, Ronaldo Souza will take on Kelvin Gastelum in a highly-intriguing Middleweight scrap. Also, Vitor Belfort will step into the Octagon for the final time to face off against fellow longtime veteran, Lyoto Machida. Plus, Mackenzie Dern will look to improve in her sophomore effort as she battles Amanda Cooper in main card action.
