Two heavyweight giants will collide later this summer as former UFC title challenger Francis Ngannou looks to get back on track against hard-hitting knockout artist Derrick Lewis at UFC 226 on July 7 live on pay-per-view (PPV) from inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, per recent reports by MMAFighting.com and ESPN.com.
Ngannou, 31, is coming off a disappointing loss to champion Miocic back at UFC 220 in which a lack of ground game led to the power puncher’s demise. Before that, “Predator” had won all six of his Octagon appearances via finish, including an all-time legendary knockout of heavyweight veteran Alistair Overeem.
Lewis, 33, recently got back in the win column with a third-round TKO finish of Polish contender Marcin Tybura this past February. Despite teasing retirement last year, “Black Beast” looks poised to make a real run at the heavyweight title, especially if he’s able to out-duel fellow knockout sensation Ngannou this July.
UFC 226 will be headlined by a superfight pitting current light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier against current heavyweight titleholder Stipe Miocic.
