4/20! Here’s a hazy UFC Fight Night 128 beer pairing for ‘Barboza vs Lee’

Here’s a hazy craft beer pairing for UFC Fight Night 128 on 4/20!

It’s April 20, 2018 (i.e. 4/20), which means it’s national get hazy with your friends day!

I’m not against blazing it up, but this article is unfortunately about craft beer and Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) instead of Mary Jane. Still, this article and the video above is focused on a hazy theme.

Tomorrow, inside Boardwalk Hall Atlantic City, N.J., Edson Barboza will compete against former UFC Lightweight interim title challenger, Kevin Lee in UFC Fight Night 128’s main event ahead of a co-main event rematch between Frankie Edgar and Cub Swanson. Those fights are both stacked with name value, which is enough reason for me to celebrate with a pint or two.

New England IPA by Samuel Adams is my beer of choice to pair with this event. This specific beer is full of dank and juicy hop aroma, which almost reminds me of a Fruity Pebbles strain of marijuana. There are several reasons beyond the Snoop Dogg-style holiday for why this adult beverage pairs well with UFC Fight Night 128.

Lee is an exciting fighter with a lot of finishes on his resume, but lately he has become quite the heel with what he has said on the microphone in the cage and in interviews. For instance, just a few days ago he basically said Dustin Poirier isn’t championship material. There are many examples of Lee nearly being in Eugene S. Robinson’s lost battalion with how hazy his perception of the current UFC Lightweight landscape. Barboza, meanwhile, has mystified many of his UFC opponents with his lighting quick kicking techniques. There is little doubt that a wide swath of the UFC fan base would be juiced with delight if Barboza were to make Lee’s brain a bit hazy with a thunderous kick to the face.

Indeed, a brain lacking full clarity reminds me of Edgar, who is taking this rematch with Swanson on short notice and without much recovery time since he was knocked out by Brian Ortega at UFC 222. Perhaps Edgar has recovered enough to sandblast Swanson for a second time, but if not his hazy brain will gel well with the theme of this pairing.

Swanson is known as one of the most exciting fighters on the entire UFC roster. While fight fans may have forgotten about Swanson’s fight with Doo Ho Choi as a result of the super short memory known to plague the mixed martial arts (MMA) world, the 145-pound contender from Palm Springs, Calif., can always be counted on to deliver action-packed combat contests. Similarly, Samuel Adams is a reliable source for quality craft concoctions.

Whether you’re into drinking pretentious beer, getting hazy with your buds, or discharging silver bullets and blue bombers, please be responsible. Cheers!
