Before Kevin Lee begins his run back to the title at this weekend’s (Sat., April 21, 2018) UFC Fight Night 128 event against Edson Barboza in Atlantic City, N.J., take a look back at one of “Motown Phenom’s” most dominant and impressive performances.
Back in 2016, Lee found himself staring down Magomed Mustafaev at UFC Fight Night 99 in Belfast, Ireland. Right out the gates, Magomed tagged Lee with a vicious body kick that forced Kevin to go for the takedowns. After finding his rhythm, Kevin looked to capitalize on his grappling skills.
In round two, it was much of the same as Lee slammed his foe to the mat, before eventually working a fight-ending rear-naked choke that literally put his foe to sleep. That was the last time Magomed competed inside the Octagon due to an injury, while Lee went on to win a few more fights before coming up short in his interim title fight against Tony Ferguson.
Now, Lee hopes to get back into the win column when he takes on perhaps the most feared striker in all the division.
