The Mexican-American war, it appears, is not over.
Fortunately, this latest showdown has nothing to do with the annexation of Texas, even though I’m sure some folks are still butthurt about it. Instead, the top fighters in Combate Americas will enter “La Jaula” representing both countries.
May the best ... uh, “person” win.
Leading the charge will be submission wunderkind Kyra Batara (USA), unbeaten under the Combate Americas banner, as she takes on atomweight wrecking ball Lisbeth Lopez Silva (Mexico), fresh off her violent technical knockout win over Sheila Padilla last November.
That’s not all.
Nate Diaz will send his top protege, Chris Avila (USA), into a co-main event battle opposite featherweight “Punisher” Horacio Gutierrez (Mexico). The action goes down inside McClellan Conference Center in Sacramento, Calif. on Friday, May 11.
“Mexico vs. USA is the best of Combate Americas, with ‘soccer style,’ country vs. country competition,” said Combate Americas CEO Campbell McLaren. “Lisbeth and Kyra are the top two atomweights in the world, and there is going to be an atomic explosion when these atoms collide.”
Here’s a taste of what’s to come:
