It’s been a minute since Reebok has handed out a solo sponsorship to anyone on the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) roster, but Sean O’Malley is about to cash in on the partnership between the world’s leading mixed martial arts (MMA) organization and the successful sports apparel operation.
During a recent appearance on “The MMA Hour,” “Sugar” announced he was on the cusp of signing a two-year agreement with Reebok to roll out his personalized gear, which he was sporting in the interview (which you can see in the embedded video player above).
“Actually, my manger hooked it up. I am going to sign a two-year deal with Reebok, so I am excited about that. These shirts will go on sale on 4/20 at UFC.com and MMAWarehouse.com. Reebok didn’t make enough shirts to stock their one Reebok.com store.”
O’Malley burst onto the UFC scene as a winner on Dana White’s “Tuesday Night Contender Series,” then making his official promotional debut at The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 26 Finale, defeating Tarrion Ware via unanimous decision. O’Malley then followed up that performance with another decision victory over Andre “The Dumbest Man In UFC History” Soukhamthath at UFC 222.
UFC seems to be putting more promotional muscle behind the undefeated Bantamweight (10-0, 2-0 UFC), as the 23-year-old’s personality is obviously capturing the promotion’s — and Reebok’s — attention. As far as his fighting career goes, O’Malley recently underwent surgery on his right foot after suffering an injury during his fight against Soukhamthath, and will be out of action for a while to rehabilitate.
When “Sugar” does eventually return to Octagon action, who would you like to see him face off against?
