UFC Liverpool: Darren Till wants to know why sourpuss Stephen Thompson is suddenly talking trash

It’s no secret that former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight title contender, Stephen Thompson, was in no real hurry to fight up-and-coming 170-pound slugger, Darren Till, with the division in disarray.

And that’s okay with the Liverpool headliner, who admits that he’s still a “nobody” to a majority of the mixed martial arts (MMA) community. But one thing he doesn’t understand — especially coming off this — is why “Wonderboy” had to talk so much trash before, during, and after their fight was booked.

Till breaks it down for MMA Fighting:

“I really didn’t think it was Stephen Thompson when I was listening to him. He usually comes across as a good, respectful guy when he’s talking about his opponents. Why is he talking like that about me? Is he upset that he had to take the fight against me? You know, I’m a nobody as far as some people are concerned, but I really didn’t think that was the real Stephen Thompson. It’s going to be fun for me… and it might be fun for him too. We’re going to go in there and try to kill each other. Based on what he said I don’t think he knows what Liverpool people are all about.”

In his defense, Thompson poo-poos on any welterweight trying to take his spot.

Till (16-0-1) scored his biggest win to date by turning away longtime veteran Donald Cerrone last October in Poland. Thompson (14-2-1), meanwhile, recently got back into the win column with a unanimous decision win over Jorge Masvidal.

They’ll hook ‘em up at the upcoming UFC Fight Night 130 headliner inside Echo Arena on May 27, 2018, in Liverpool, England, though it’s still fuzzy as to which champion the winner will face, since we’ll have two by the time this fight is finished.
