Octagon newcomer Dan Moret did what he could to stave off Brazilian lightweight Gilbert Burns earlier tonight (Sat., April 14, 2018) at UFC on FOX 29 from inside Gila River Arena in Glendale, Arizona, but ultimately tasted defeat after a second-round uppercut from hell ended his UFC debut in devastating fashion.
While Moret landed some good shots along the way, including a hard right hook that buckled “Durinho” in the first round, Burns was too powerful and too quick to keep at bay. After a timely right uppercut put Moret on skates early into the second round, Burns followed up with another uppercut along the cage that slumped Moret and forced the referee to step in for the brutal knockout stoppage.

With this performance, Burns secures his second-straight knockout finish, having stopped Jason Saggo this past September. Known for his world-class submission skills, Burns will be a serious threat at 155 pounds if he can continue to improve his striking and pair his ground game with one-punch knockout power.
