Report: Ricardo Lamas vs Mirsad Bektic on tap for UFC 225 in Chicago

MMA: UFC 214-Lamas vs Knight Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

It’s been a busy day for “Windy City” matchmakers.

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) featherweight title contender, Ricardo Lamas, will make his return to mixed martial arts (MMA) against top 145-pound prospect Mirsad Bektic at the upcoming UFC 225 pay-per-view (PPV) event, locked and loaded for Sat., June 9, 2018 inside United Center in Chicago, Illinois.

MMA NYTT first brought word of the pairing on Thursday.

Lamas (18-6) hasn’t been seen since his first-round knockout loss to Josh Emmett last December. “The Bully” struggled to stay consistent over the past few years and considering he turns 36 in May, it’s now or never in terms of another title run.

That might be easier said than done against Bektic (12-1), who got back into the win column with a crushing knockout win over Godofredo Castro earlier this year in Charlotte, improving his Octagon record to 5-1.

Fun fight.
