I guess Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) really wants Cris Cyborg to fight Amanda Nunes — assuming “Lioness” can beat Raquel Pennington — as it took one of the only available featherweights and reassigned her.
Invicta FC import Megan Anderson, previously tied to the Brazilian, will now fight former 135-pound champion Holly Holm, who remains at featherweight despite decision losses to Cyborg and Germaine de Randamie.
In fact, “The Preacher’s Daughter” (11-4) is just 1-4 since shocking the world with her upset win over Ronda Rousey in late 2015. Outside of tapping to Miesha Tate at UFC 196, the 36-year-old Holm has remained competitive in her decision losses.
Anderson (8-2) captured four straight under the Invicta banner before signing with UFC, with all four victories ending by way of knockout. It remains to be seen if she can replicate those performances inside the Octagon.
Holm vs. Anderson will take place at the upcoming UFC 225 pay-per-view (PPV) event, locked and loaded for June 9, 2018 inside United Center in Chicago, Illinois. To see who else is competing on the “Windy City” fight card click here.
