Boxing events aren’t usually known for their must-see undercards, but on Saturday night in Wales it was the co-main event of the Anthony Joshua vs. Joseph Parker card that stole the show, rather than the tepid Joshua-Parker decision that headlined.
After a back and forth start that saw both fighters knocked down in the third, heavyweight Alexander Povetkin scored a vicious fifth round knockout over England’s David Price.

The win kept Povetkin in possession of the WBA Inter-Continental and WBO International heavyweight titles and potentially sets up a meeting with Anthony Joshua should any issues keep the British champion from facing WBC champ Deontay Wilder and unifying the heavyweight titles. Otherwise, we could see Povetkin vs. Dillian Whyte next.

As for Price, scary photos following the fight showed the boxer wearing an oxygen mask literally dripping with blood. Fortunately his friend and fellow boxer Tony Bellew gave an update on his condition later in the evening.
Last night I was extremely low and shouldn’t be like that tbh.. Bit unprofessional but seeing my friend like that truly broke my heart.. He’s one of the best men I know he really is.. He’s healthy and safe and there’s more to life than boxing. He’ll always be a champ in my eyes.
