The contracts haven’t been signed just yet, but Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) featherweight champion Max Holloway has agreed to fight top division contender Brian Ortega. Not surprisingly, “T-City” is on board with that plan, and now we have promotion president Dana White to make it official.
Bigger than Conor McGregor vs. Jose Aldo? This guy thinks so.
Ortega (14-0, 1 NC) punched his ticket to a 145-pound title shot -- and kept his undefeated record intact — by smashing former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar in the UFC 222 pay-per-view (PPV) co-main event last weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Watch the highlights here.
Holloway (19-3), meanwhile, is recovering from a recent leg injury and expects to be ready for that summer sizzle, right after he’s done with his two-strips meal. “Blessed” is riding a 12-fight win streak with nine finishes, making this one of the best featherweight fights in recent memory.
All we have to do is make it another few months without injury.
