The last time Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) touched down on South Korean soil former lightweight champion Ben Henderson was seen defeating battle-tested welterweight Jorge Masvidal at UFC Fight Night 79 back in November 2015.
Luckily for South Korean fight fans, UFC is planning on a potential return this fall, per a recent report by BJPenn.com’s Chris Taylor (shown below).
Per multiple sources, the UFC is targeting another fight card in Korea for this fall. October is the month currently being discussed but nothing is finalized yet. Imagine both @KoreanZombieMMA and @KoreanSuperBoy7 fighting at home! pic.twitter.com/UHRkutfGhX

If UFC does in fact return to South Korea in October, it will be nearly three years since “Smooth” met “Gamebred” inside Olympic Gymnastics Arena in the capital of Seoul. Such a long-awaited return deserves only the best Korean talent currently on the UFC roster.
Fortunately, the massive mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion has an abundant source of talented fighters hailing from South Korea. Whether it’s former UFC featherweight title challenger “Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung, top-flight featherweight brawler Doo Ho Choi, 10-year UFC veteran Dong Hyun Kim, or talented women’s flyweight prospect Ji Yeon Kim, UFC has multiple options to help hold down the next card in South Korea.
If the promotion really wants to cash in on a return to the East Asia country then it may very well pit “Korean Zombie” against “Korean Superboy” and blow the roof off the place. That’s wishful thinking, but it’s possible given the current layout of the UFC featherweight division.
