Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and World Series of Fighting (WSOF) standout Rousimar Palhares tasted his third knockout defeat since 2016 when he was finished in just 58 seconds earlier today (Fri., Mar. 30, 2018) at Fight Nights Global 85 in Moscow, Russia, by undefeated welterweight Aliaskhab Khizriev.
Khizriev, who captured the interim FNG welterweight title with his victory, poured it on Palhares early and often. Palhares was on skates for most of the fight as he tried to grab a hold of one of his patented leg locks, but the Russian shrugged him off and eventually worked to top control and landed devastating ground-and-pound. Palhares did little to defend and Khizriev slammed a few more insurance shots from the Russian heavens before the referee stepped in for the quick first-round stoppage.

With this loss, Palhares’ record since getting kicked out of WSOF after his controversial submission win over Jake Shields drops to a dismal 1-3-1, with all three defeats coming by way of knockout. Two of those knockouts, which includes this one by Khizriev and a previous beating at the hands of Emil Meek, took place within one minute of the first round.
At 38 years of age, Palhares clearly has little left in the tank. His name has already been dragged through the mixed martial arts (MMA) mud for never letting go of any of his submissions and now his face is starting to take a beating, too.
Only time will tell if the Brazilian grappling expert can rebound from yet another crushing knockout defeat, but it’s highly unlikely at this moment.
