Bellator 199 “Bader vs. King Mo” takes place May 12, 2018 at SAP Center in San Jose, California. Headlining that night is another bracket of the Heavyweight Grand Prix as 205 pound champion Ryan “Darth” Bader (24-5) faces off with Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal (21-6, 1 NC).
A new and intriguing fight has just been added to the card. After nearly a one year lay off since earning his fifth straight win against Augusto Sakai, “The Darkness” Cheick Kongo (27-10-2) returns to the cage to square off with the formidable Javy Ayala (10-6).
“Eye Candy” may not have the veteran experience that 42 year old Kongo does, but the 29 year-old can say he’s done something Kongo never did — finishing PRIDE legend Sergei Kharitonov in just 16 seconds. After the big wins both men have scored it was a bit surprising neither one made it into the Heavyweight tournament, but they were announced as alternates for injury replacement just in case.
