Before (or after) things got awkward with Ronda Rousey and Mike Golic during a recent interview on “Golic and Wingo,” the former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women’s Bantamweight title holder was asked about Floyd Mayweather’s possible move into mixed martial arts (MMA).
It’s the talk of the town, after all.
Rousey — like most of the combat world — isn’t buying it, though, as she told Golic that the pound-for-pound best boxer in the world will never step foot inside the Octagon, and is only talking that talk to get people riled up.
“Yeah, that will never happen, it’s all talk,” she said, saying that if there were even a slightest chance of him making the move, it simply wouldn’t work out well for him. “I mean, different strokes or different folks, but I don’t think he will do good at all,” she concluded.
Rousey knows all about crossovers, as she inked a full time deal with WWE as a professional wrestler, leaving her fighting roots behind, though she has yet to commit to a full retirement from the fight game.
One person who does believe Floyd is serious about taking his talents to the cage is current UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley, who just so happens to be training “Money” for the potential shift. Whether or not Floyd actually follows through with an actual fight, remains to be seen.
