Watch Elias Theodorou make his InvictaFC ‘ring boy’ debut

The UFC middleweight made his ring boy debut on Saturday night in front of an appreciative audience.

UFC middleweight Elias Theodorou just smashed the glass ceiling for all men dreaming of a day when they too can take a skimpy jaunt around the cage like ring girls have for decades. On Saturday night the Canadian fighter made his debut as an InvictaFC 28 ‘ring boy’ and proudly worked alongside the more traditonal ring girls all evening to thunderous applause.

Invicta FC president Shannon Knapp shared with MMA Junkie how she had her doubts about the whole ringboy concept until Elias arrived with his contagious enthusiasm and positive outlook on how he could knock down some antiquated perceptions about gender.

“To be honest with you, I didn’t ever think I would have a (ring) boy because I didn’t want it to be a joke or anything like that,” Knapp said. “But he’s taken it very serious. He’s very excited about it, and he wants to be with the company longterm, not just for this event. It’ll be interesting to see how the fans react to it.”

This wasn’t Theodorou’s first foray into ringboy territory. He started his blossoming career at a Montreal Fight League event before being called up to the major league. UFC Fight pass dedicated a three part series to Theodorou’s Invicta debut and how the ring girls got him ready to take his first walk around their cage.
