Just when you think you’ve seen it all a fighter gets disqualified for flipping off of an opponent’s back who just knocked himself out.
Yes, you read that right.
After LFA 36’s main card last night (Fri., Mar. 23, 2018) on AXS TV from inside Morongo Casino Resort in Cabazon, Calif., a post-lims bout between debuting heavyweights Drew Chatman (7-1 amateur) and Irvins Ayala (5-0 amateur) offered a true rarity in mixed martial arts (MMA).
According to LFA, Ayala accidentally knocked himself out on Chatman’s knee while attempting to land a hammerfist on the ground. While Chatman would have walked away with his first professional victory, he decided to flip off of Ayala’s back in a complete act of disrespect, which eventually led to him being disqualified.
Irvins Ayala KO'd himself throwing a hammerfist on the ground, when his chin slammed into Chatman's knee, who was on his back in guard.— LFA (@LFAfighting) March 24, 2018
Chatman is then DQ'd at 2:39 of Round 1 for jumping on the back of an unconscious Ayala.

Bet you didn’t expect to see that, especially considering Chatman’s nickname is “Honorable.” But this is MMA, a place where the impossible and unimaginable happen on a weekly basis. At least Ayala wasn’t further hurt from the flip.
Hopefully Chatman learned his lesson and understands that launching off of an opponent’s spine after the fight is over is just about the worst thing you could ever do.
