After getting finished for the first time in his mixed martial arts (MMA) by Brian Ortega at UFC 222 earlier this month (see it), Frankie Edgar is looking to get right back on his horse.
According to Brett Okamoto of ESPN.com, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is looking to book a rematch that will see “The Answer” face off against Cub Swanson at the upcoming UFC Fight Night 128 event in Atlantic City, New Jersey on April 21, 2018.
Hailing from Toms River, New Jersey, Edgar initially defeated “Killer Cub” inside the Octagon back in 2014 via submission in the fifth and final round (see it again here). Two wins later, Frankie saw himself in yet another title fight, though he ultimately came up short against Jose Aldo for the second time.
After racking up back-to-back victories, “The Answer” secured himself one more championship bout, though plans to face Featherweight champion Max Holloway were axed on two occasions due to injuries.
And the rest, as they say, is history.
As for Cub, his last loss also came at the hands of “T-City,” losing to the submission specialist at UFC Fight Night 123 last December which broke his four-fight win streak in what was his last fight on his old UFC deal. After coming to terms with the promotion on a new contract, Swanson is ready to get back into the win column by scoring some sweet revenge on the former Lightweight champion.
UFC Fight Night 128 will be headlined by 155-pound scrap between Kevin Lee and Edson Barboza. To learn more about the upcoming Fox Sports 1-televised event click here and here.
