UFC Fight Night 127 results: Next matches to make for ‘Werdum vs Volkov’ main card winners

MMA: UFC Fight Night-Manuwa vs Blachowicz Per Haljestam-USA TODAY Sports

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) was back in action last night (Sat., March 17, 2018) as UFC Fight Night 127 took place inside O2 Arena in London, England. In the main event of the evening, Alexander Volkov knocked out Fabricio Werdum in a Heavyweight bout (recap). In the co-main event, Jan Blachowicz got some sweet revenge on Jimi Manuwa by outclassing the British banger.

Winner: Alexander Volkov

Who He Should Face Next: Derrick Lewis

With only one spot separating Lewis and Volkov on the rankings, this fight makes all the sense in the world. “Black Beast” is coming off a knockout win over Marcin Tybura, while “Drago’s” win over Werdum will catapult him further up the pecking order. Lewis has long proclaimed he doesn’t care about a title shot, but if he can get a win over Volkov, he will find himself sooner, rather than later. As for Alex, he does want a shot at the gold, and collecting his seventh straight win against Derrick would be just what the doctor ordered.

Winner: Jan Blachowicz

Who He Should Fight Next: Glover Teixiera

“Hands of Stone” was eying a title fight against Daniel Cormier shortly after taking out Misha Cirkunov. Sorry to tell you, Glover, but it simply isn’t going to happen. If a fight against Ilir Latifi doesn’t come to light, I’d like to see Jan and Teixeira throw down. Both men like to stand and bang, and they aren’t afraid to put it all on the line, as evidenced by Jan’s “Fight of the Night” performance against Jimi Manuwa. Jan can expect a huge jump up in the rankings, and since he just took out No. 4, next up is No. 3.

Winner: Tom Duquesnoy

Who He Should Fight Next: Eddie Wineland

Tom got back on the wining track after a tough battle against Terrior Ware to bring his record to 2-1 inside the Octagon. He has shown flashes of brilliance, but still has a ways to go before he can crack the top 15. Up next for him should be a fight against Wineland, who just so happens to hold the No. 15 spot. Wineland is a grizzled veteran who could be a great measuring stick for the Frenchman. On the flip side, a win for Eddie — who was outclassed by John Dodson in his last outing — could be what he needs to breath some life into his his career.

Winner: Leon Edwards

Who He Should Fight Next: Neil Magny

After defeating Peter Sobotta in London, Leon now boasts an impressive five-fight win streak inside the eight-sided cage. A showdown against Magny could be in order for Leon. Neil is coming off a one-sided beating of Carlos Condit, and could be looking to return to the cage pretty soon. A showdown between these two 170-pounders I like very much, as they are both looking to insert themselves into the top of what is a division that has quickly become the sports most competitive and exciting one.
