Video: UFC ‘London’s’ Fabricio Werdum recalls the time Mike Tyson nearly broke his nose

Throughout his mixed martial arts (MMA) career, Fabricio Werdum has been hit by some of the best mixed martial arts (MMA) Heavyweights in the world such as Andrei Arlovski, Stipe Miocic and Junior dos Santos.

But getting hit by former multiple-time boxing champion Mike Tyson, however, is on a whole other level; even if it’s by accident.

“It’s amazing. Mike Tyson punched my nose, too, an accident, but he punched me and almost he broke my nose,” Werdum told TMZ Sports. “Because I’m an actor, he’s no actor too, but he’s good, he’s a funny guy, he’s a very nice guy, but he punch very hard.”

Indeed, Werdum and Tyson had appearances on the “Kickboxer: Retaliation” movie alongside Jean Claude Van Damme. The accidental punch was so hard, in fact, that it nearly knocked the towering big man down, something that isn’t new for “Iron Mike.”

Still, Werdum says he had no issue with the strike, seeing as it came from Tyson, which many would likely carry as a badge of honor.

“It almost knocked down me, but it’s good,” Werdum said. “I feel good because it’s Mike Tyson, no other guy. Maybe other guy, I don’t feel good if they punch my face, but Mike Tyson’s OK.”

When asked if his reflexes kicked in prompting him to counter, “Vai Cavalo” says never in a million years would he do that. Taking him down to his world, however, may be another story.

“No, no.” Werdum said. “Maybe I take down him.”

Smart choice.

Fabricio will return to the real hurt business this Saturday night when he faces off against fellow hard-hitting big man Alexander Volkov in he main event of UFC Fight Night 127, which is set to go down inside O2 Arena in London, England.
