There’s an interesting bantamweight showdown coming to the UFC 224: “Nunes vs. Pennington” pay-per-view (PPV) event, scheduled for Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Sat., May 12, 2018.
John Lineker vs. Brian Kelleher.
Lineker (30-8) returned to the win column with a unanimous decision win over Marlon Vera at the UFC Fight Night 119 mixed martial arts (MMA) event last October. “Hands of Stone” is 8-1 dating back to early 2014 and appears to be settling in after coming up from flyweight.
As for Kelleher (19-8), he’s quietly put together a 3-1 record under the UFC banner including two straight wins. “Boom” put the 135-pound division on notice by turning away former titleholder Renan Barao at UFC on FOX 28 last February.
Fun fight.
UFC 224 will be headlined by the women’s bantamweight title fight pitting reigning 135-pound queenpin Amanda Nunes opposite rough-and-tumble contender Raquel Pennington. Elsewhere on the card, Vitor Belfort and Lyoto Machida will hook ‘em up for middleweight bragging rights.
