Former UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum will return to action next weekend at UFC Fight Night 127 on Mar. 17 live on Fight Pass from inside The O2 Arena in London, England, when he takes on Russian knockout artist Alexander Volkov. It will be the Brazilian’s third Octagon appearance in just six months.
In preparation for Werdum’s return to the cage, the promotion has opened up its vault and released the heavyweight legend’s clash with Cain Velasquez at UFC 188, which can be seen above in its entirety. This was the first time in Werdum’s career that he fought for an undisputed UFC title. He claimed the interim strap over Mark Hunt prior to UFC 188, but his championship tilt with Velasquez was the culmination of his entire UFC career. Werdum was able to put it on Velasquez early and eventually locked in a guillotine choke in the third round to claim the heavyweight title.
Unfortunately for Werdum, he would lose the championship to Stipe Miocic via knockout his next time out.
If the Brazilian wants to continue his comeback trail to title contention he must defeat Volkov at UFC Fight Night 127 in England. That would put him on a three-fight win streak and on the doorstep of a rematch with Miocic.
