Two promising bantamweight talents will lock horns at UFC Fight Night 128 on April 21 live on FOX Sports 1 from inside Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J., as New York native Aljamain Sterling takes on rising contender Brett Johns.
The bout was originally reported by Newsday before UFC officials confirmed the booking earlier this week.
Sterling, 28, is coming off a crushing knockout loss to Marlon Moraes back at UFC Fight Night 123. Before that, “Funk Master” captured a key victory over former UFC bantamweight champion Renan Barao. Sterling currently possesses a 6-3 UFC record and would benefit greatly from a victory in his first fight of 2018.
Johns, 25, is fresh off a 30-second submission (calf slicer) of former title challenger Joe Soto. The talented Welshman is currently undefeated at 15-0 with three-straight victories under the UFC banner. A win over a proven contender like Sterling should launch “Pikey” into the top 10 entering the second half of 2018.
UFC Fight Night 128 currently has no main event in place, but will feature an enticing middleweight matchup between streaking knockout artist Thiago Santos and former World Series of Fighting (WSOF) champion David Branch.
