Video: Mike Perry’s eye is a swollen mess following Max Griffin fight at UFC on FOX 28

New, comments

Do you want to be a f—king fighter?

That infamous question from Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) president Dana White always seems to come up after seeing the carnage left behind after a brutal bout inside the Octagon. And it’s something Mike Perry can attest to.

Following his unanimous decision loss to Max Griffin at UFC on FOX 28 last weekend (Sat., Feb. 24, 2018) in Orlando, Fla. (recap), “Platinum” took to FOX Sports Pro Cast to talk abut his defeat and show off his fresh battle scars, which includes a busted up face, specifically his left eye that was swollen shut and required several stitches.

The loss to Griffin was Perry’s second straight in only a matter of a few months after he suffered a unanimous decision loss to Santiago Ponzinibbio in Dec. 2017. The defeat hurts “Platinum’s” chance of breaking into the Top 15, as well as his chance to take on his budding rival, Colby Covington.

And that’s a shame.

Despite his back-to-back losses and a battered mug, Perry is in good spirits, vowing to start from scratch to get to where he wants to be in the world of mixed martial arts (MMA). At only 26 years of age, Perry has time on his side, but it will be tough sledding getting to the top, as the 170-pound division is as stacked as ever, with plenty of veterans and rising contenders making a legit case for a shot against division champion Tyron Woodley.
