Rising UFC light heavyweight contender Ilir Latifi made the best out of his main card bid earlier tonight (Sat., Feb. 24, 2018) at UFC on FOX 28 from inside Amway Center in Orlando, Fla., when he choked out former title challenger Ovince Saint Preux via first-round guillotine.
In what was a rather uneventful first round, Latifi caught OSP with a sneaky left hook that badly stunned the former collegiate football star. Latifi pressed the action and was able to grab a hold of Saint Preux’s neck. From there, “Sledgehammer” squeezed for the standing guillotine choke and put the former title challenger to sleep.

With this performance, Latifi locks down his second-straight win at 205 pounds and pushes his overall UFC record to 7-3. Another win, let alone a finish like this one, could land the Swedish fighter on the doorstep of title contention, especially if Daniel Cormier is bumped back down to light heavyweight after his heavyweight meeting with Stipe Miocic in July.
