It was yet another successful performance by Brazilian veteran Rani Yahya earlier tonight (Sat., Feb. 24, 2018) at UFC on FOX 28 from inside Amway Center in Orlando, Fla., when the 33-year-old absolutely smothered Hawaiian bantamweight Russell Doane via third-round arm-triangle choke.
Despite his efforts to keep distance and score with his hands, Doane spent the entirety of this fight defending Yahya’s advancements on the ground. And when Doane surrendered side control during an exchange on the canvas in Round 3 it opened up an easy submission finish for Yahya.

With this performance, Yahya improves his UFC record to 10-3 (1 NC) while locking down his 19th career win by way of submission. Yahya may be a one-trick pony at this point in his career, but so is Demian Maia and look what happened to him at 170 pounds.
