Tested veteran Jeremy Stephens came through yet again earlier tonight (Sat., Feb. 24, 2018) at UFC on FOX 28 from inside Amway Center in Orlando, Fla., when he flattened rising contender Josh Emmett via second-round knockout.
Both men landed early as Emmett scored on the go and Stephens waited for his opportunity in the counter. Emmett was able to find a home for a nasty right hook towards the end of the first round that put Stephens on his butt.
In Round 2, Stephens caught Emmett with a brutal left hook that sent the Team Alpha Male product into a whirl. Stephens jumped on top and landed a plethora of devastating elbows, one or two of which may have landed to the back of the head. Stephens then launched a knee to a downed Emmett that looked awfully close to being illegal, but nothing came of it. Instead, “Lil Heathen” scored a few more vicious elbows before the referee jumped in for the TKO stoppage.

With this performance, albeit a controversial one, Stephens wins his third-straight fight at 145 pounds and locks down his second consecutive knockout finish. Stephens is certainly on the short of list of deserving featherweight title contenders, especially given his UFC track record, but he’s more likely to land himself in a No. 1 contender’s bout next time out.
