Midnight Mania! Henry Cejudo’s manager tweets that he’s rematching Demetrious Johnson this summer

Bringing you the weird and wild from the world of MMA each and every weeknight ...

MMA: UFC 197-Johnson vs Cejudo Joshua Dahl-USA TODAY Sports

Welcome to Midnight Mania!

Several mixed martial arts (MMA) managers have a ... less than savory reputation. Like fight promoters, they often have incentive to misrepresent the facts. So, take the following with a grain of salt, but Ali Abdelaziz -- one of the highest profile MMA managers to retain a shady reputation -- tweeted that his client, Henry Cejudo, will be rematching Demetrious Johnson this summer.

This runs counter to claims by T.J. Dillashaw that talks to implement the “super” fight between himself and Demetrious Johnson are in the early stages. Henry Cejudo last faced Demetrious Johnson in 2016, losing via first round knockout.

The malcontents and disaffected are joining Project Spearhead, the latest effort for and by fighters to gain employee status and unionize. I encourage all fighters to join — collective bargaining is likely the only way they will ever see a bigger slice of UFC’s pie ... much more than the 17 percent or so they currently receive.

Combat sports this weekend!

Machida vs. Belfort was announced, which has been dubbed “The Old Man vs. The Pee.” It’s fitting, because that movie was very slow-paced and this fight will be, too.

Alan Jouban may be a model, but his expressions after he wins are wild.
