Toe job: Roy Nelson ready for Matt Mitrione rubber match after ‘Meathead’ brands him cheating dirtbag

The Matt Mitrione-Roy Nelson bromance is officially over.

That’s because “Meathead” is miffed that “Big Country” tried to win by cheating, instead of by being the better fighter when they ran it back in the Bellator 194 main event last weekend on Paramount Network.

Our full recap here.

According to Mitrione, Nelson posted his big toe inside the fence, locking his prodigious girth into position which in turn prevented his grounded opponent from escaping. Despite an initial warning from referee Dan Miragliotta, the infraction was allowed to continue.

Which is why Mitrione told The MMA Hour he’s washing his hands of the juice-less “dirtbag.”

“Roy then took his right big toe and lifted his foot off the ground and stuck it inside the fence and then for 45 seconds — or 40 seconds or so — inside of that round when he was on top of me punching me or elbowing me, he was cheating. For Roy to grandstand, to be like, ‘Oh, I’m full of integrity, I don’t cheat, I don’t steroids or anything else, blah blah blah,’ and then when the fight comes down to it, to say you need to win, because you lost the first two rounds, then you start to cheat just so you can win?. That’s garbage, man. If you’re gonna cheat to try and beat me, you’re a dirtbag and I’ve got no respect for you. So I’ve lost all juice for Roy. All of it.”

There’s a lot of “cheating” going around these days.

Mitrione won a close unanimous decision — which drew boos from the audience — to avenge his 2012 loss to Nelson under the UFC banner. In victory, “Meathead” moves forward in the promotion’s heavyweight grand prix, meeting the winner of Ryan Bader vs. Muhammed Lawal this summer.

As for Nelson?

Be careful with that toe!

“Big Country” is likely to remain an alternate (sorry, guys) in case another participant gets injured or can no longer move forward in the tournament (see the bracket here). That said, the stars would have to align just perfectly to get a Mitrione rubber match.
