Fighter by day, ring boy by night.
Current Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Middleweight contender Elias Theodorou appeared on a recent edition of The MMA Hour to reveal a history-making move, saying he will be the sports first-ever ring boy for a professional fight league.
“I’m excited to announce that I will be joining as the first-ever ring boy for Invicta 28, March 28 in Salt Lake City. Mixed martial arts has been in the forefront of equality in many different ways, as you can see women being on top of many pay-per-views, selling millions. And also now, myself included, as the first ring boy,” said Elias.
The hard-hitting 185 pounder says this is far from a joke and doesn’t expect it to be a one-time thing, as he also revealed his attempts to get into the standup business.
“The most important thing I want to accomplish with this is kind of getting out of your comfort zone. That’s what I did entering mixed martial arts, now with ring boy and my next step is my open mic debut this Thursday and I have a five minute st that I am hopefully going to kill or learn from it.” he added. “I don’t take myself too serious. My job is a humbling job, and they day you think you know everything is when you get your ass kicked on national television.”
A man of many hats.
His ring boy venture will also bring with it plenty of money-making opportunities, as he will be allowed to be decked out with sponsorship logos during his stint, and he is bringing a lot of blue chip sponsors with him.
“I am the only UFC fighter that has my billboard back. I talked to Shannon and I will be able to put all of my sponsors on my shorts.”
Some of his big sponsors include Samsung and Mattel, as Theodorou stated he has a partnership with toy giant, and is in the works to partner up with Barbie to be “Man Bun Ken.”
Furthermore, Elias has a movie and two television shows in the works, as well, so the hustle is strong with “The Spartan.” As for his day job, Elias has his eyes on Thales Leites for his next challenge inside the Octagon.
