UFC Austin preview: Get ready for a barnburner, knuckle draggin, fightin-with-all-we-got main event

New, comments

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will uncork a barnburner, knuckle draggin, fightin-with-all-we-got headliner at this weekend’s UFC Fight Night 126 mixed martial arts (MMA) extravaganza on FOX Sports 1, going down Sun. night (Feb. 18, 2018) inside Frank Erwin Center in Austin, Texas.

That’s according to welterweight slugger Donald Cerrone.

“When they said Yancy Medeiros I was like, ‘Hell yeah.’ Hawaiian dude wants to throw down? Perfect,” Cerrone said. “He’s one of the last dying breeds of fighter, the guys that just throw down. It’s one of those barnburner, knuckle draggin, fightin-with-all-we-got fights. This is gonna be a Cowboy Cerrone highlight reel.”

Cerrone (32-10, 1 NC) was expected to return to the lightweight division — and reduce his fight frequency — after dropping three straight fights in which he was finished twice. “Cowboy” was last seen getting turned inside out by Darren Till at UFC Gdansk.

Probably got an offer he couldn’t refuse.

Medeiros (15-4, 1 NC), meanwhile, captured three in a row — all finishes — to maintain his place in the official UFC rankings (see them here). “The Kid” is fresh off a third-round stoppage over Alex Oliveira at UFC 218.

Any chance this scrap lasts all five rounds?
