Alexander Gustafsson wants to knockout Luke Rockhold while waiting for Daniel Cormier rematch

Before Luke Rockhold got knocked out by the heavy hands of Yoel Romero at last Saturday night’s (Feb. 10, 2018) UFC 221 event in Perth, Australia (see it again here), the former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Middleweight king teased a move up to the Light Heavyweight division.

And he already has someone waiting for him at the front door, as Alexander Gustafsson took to social media to call out the former champion and warn him of the dangers that await him

Check it out:

@lukerockhold your teammate is holding MY Division hostage, and you think there are only easy fights at LHW. If u think Romero hits hard, then wait till you come to the big boys. I want @dc_mma , and knocking u out will keep me warm in the meantime. Beware of coming up in weight because I will be standing at the front door waiting.

Fighting words.

Of course, Gustafsson seemed to be the front-runner to get a championship rematch against Daniel Cormier, but after “DC” received the opportunity of a lifetime to move up to Heavyweight to challenge division champion Stipe Miocic, those plans were nixed.

And while Cormier hasn’t ruled out a drop back down to 205-pound to defend his title -- possibly against Alexander — the division must move on, and “The Mauler” is ready to do just that. But it could get even more crowded at light heavyweight pretty soon, as this former champion is nearing a comeback, while a certain heavyweight is contemplating a drop down, as well.

Interesting times.

Anyone interested in a Gustafsson vs. Rockhold 205-pound showdown? Or do you have someone else in mind for Luke’s eventual light heavyweight debut.
