Ultimate Fighting Championship is gearing up for another quick return to Brazil, as the world’s leading mixed martial arts (MMA) organization is set to stage UFC 224 on May 12, 2018 in Rio de Janiero.
And according to Combate.com, the Endeavor-owned organization is eyeing a women’s Featherweight title fight between division champion Cris Cyborg and women’s Bantamweight champion, Amanda Nunes.
The two champions have been making headlines over the past few weeks over the proposed super fight, with Cyborg finally agreeing to face off against the much lighter combatant, as opposed to trying to find a true 145-pounder to fight her.
Of course, Cris was hoping to land a spot at a stacked event, preferably UFC 226 on July 7, 2018, which is set to feature a Heavyweight title bout between Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier, and possibly a co-headliner between Demetrious Johnson and T.J. Dillashaw.
But, if the promotion has its way, she could be fighting in her home country for the first time since 2016. Of course, UFC has yet to make the fight official, so stick with MMA Mania as more details emerge.
