Dhiego Lima secured the biggest win of his professional MMA career earlier tonight (Sat., Dec. 8, 2018) at UFC 231 from inside Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, when he flattened Canadian veteran Chad Laprise via first-round knockout (punch).
Despite being on the defensive early on as Laprise pushed his back to the cage, Lima was able to land a brutal left hook coming inside that instantaneously put “Disciple” out. Lima could have easily landed another punch or two, but he opted for the walk-off knockout.

With this performance, Lima gets the win he needed to save his UFC job after losing his last two Octagon appearances. The finish, which is Lima’s most vicious to date, is also his first stoppage in UFC competition. At just 29 years of age, the Brazilian should be able to utilize this knockout to enjoy a prolonged promotional stay.
