Retired boxing icon, Floyd Mayweather Jr., joined Japanese kickboxing sensation, Tenshin Nasukawa, at Mayweather Boxing Club in Las Vegas, Nevada, this week for a special media open workout ahead of their three-round exhibition match on New Year’s Eve in Japan. The bout was blindsided orchestrated by Rizin Fighting Federation and joins what is expected to be a stacked line up for Saitama Super Arena on Dec. 31, 2018, featuring a blend of mixed martial arts (MMA), kickboxing, and even professional wrestling.
Watch them (mostly Mayweather) promote their upcoming bout, as well as get sweaty (mostly Tenshin), in the videos embedded above and below.
Mayweather was criticized for demanding a special rule set, which bars kicking, effectively taking away the only thing Nasukawa has to offer. So, expect the finished product to look a lot like a glorified sparring session, which is great news for fans of bobbing, weaving and shoulder rolling. As for the rest of us, we’ll probably still be talking about what happened at UFC 232 a few days before.
