The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 28 Finale injuries and medical suspensions for the athletes who competed at “Usman vs Dos Anjos” event last Friday night (Nov. 30, 2018) from inside The Pearl Theater in Las Vegas, Nevada were released by Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC).
Leading the way in mandatory sits were Rafael dos Anjos and Kamaru Usman after their five-round affair which saw “The Nigerian Nightmare” score a unanimous decision win over “RDA” (see it again here).
Rafael will be benched for 60 days while Usman can get back in action in as little as a month. But that’s not all, check out who else will be joining them on the medical suspension list:
Rafael dos Anjos: Suspended until 1/30/19 No contact until 1/15/19 – Lacerations
Kamaru Usman: Suspend until 12/31/18 No contact until 12/22/18 – Left thumb pain
Juan Francisco Espino: Espino must have MRI of right knee.If positive then needs Orthopedic Doctor clearance or no contest until 5/30/19; minimum suspension no contest until 12/31/18, no contact until 12/22/18
Bryan Caraway: Suspend until 12/31/18No contact until 12/22/18 – Laceration
Darren Stewart: Suspend until 1/15/19No contact until 12/31/18 – Laceration
Rick Glenn: Suspend until 1/30/19No contact until 1/15/19 – Laceration
Kevin Aguilar: Suspend until 12/31/18 No contact until 12/22/18 – Left shin contusion
Alex Perez: Perez must have Right Hand x rayed, if positive must have Orthopedic Dr. clearance or no contest until 5/30/19; minimum suspension no contest until 1/15/19, no contact until 12/31/18
Michel Batista: Suspend until 12/31/18 No contact until 12/22/18
Leah Ann Letson: Suspend until 12/31/18No contact until 12/22/18 – Laceration
Darrell Horcher: Suspend until 12/31/18 No contact until 12/22/18
Rick Rainy: Suspend until 1/15/19 No contact until 12/31/18
Raoni Barcelos: Suspend Barcelos until 1/30/19No contact 1/15/19 – Laceration
Christopher Gutierrez: Suspend Gutierrez until 12/31/18 No contact until 12/22/18
Just a quick reminder: Fighters often return to action much quicker once doctors give them the green light. The lengthy suspensions are just a precaution in most cases. In addition, not all injuries are recorded during the post-fight examination and often times surface in follow-up tests.
