Ryan Hall became the first fighter to ever submit MMA legend and former UFC champion B.J. Penn earlier tonight (Sat., Dec. 29, 2018) at UFC 232 from inside The Forum in Inglewood, Calif., when he defeated “Prodigy” via first-round heel hook.
While Penn pushed the pace in the early going and showed some signs of explosiveness, Hall only needed a second to finish this fight. After quickly reaching for one of Penn’s legs and tripping the former UFC champion to the canvas, “Wizard” secured a perfect heel hook attempt and briefly applied pressure before Penn was forced to tap.

With this performance, Hall not only caps off the biggest win of his professional MMA career, but he pushes his overall UFC record to 3-0. Penn didn’t stand a chance once Hall grabbed a hold of his ankle which speaks volumes considering the experience “Prodigy” brings to the Octagon. Look for Hall to ride this victory and land a more relevant lightweight his next time out.
