Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women’s featherweight champion, Cristiane Justino, will welcome current women’s 135-pound titleholder, Amanda Nunes, to the UFC 232 pay-per-view (PPV) co-main event TONIGHT (Sat., Dec. 29, 2018) inside The Forum in Inglewood, California.
Nunes initially called for a showdown against Justino earlier this year, but for one reason or another, the two Brazilians couldn’t seem to get on the same page regarding a potential date. As a result, “Lioness” went on to demolish Raquel Pennington at UFC 224 in May, two months after ”Cyborg” destroyed Yana Kunitskaya at UFC 222.
Meanwhile, Justino kept waiting in the wings, hoping for Nunes to sign on the dotted line, threatening to part ways with UFC once her contract ran out if the promotion couldn’t get the bantamweight champ (or anyone else, for that matter) to face her.
Now, the most feared striker in all of women’s MMA has gotten her wish, as she has the chance to take out another dominant champion in her own right. Unfortunately for Justino, she won’t be able to officially cal herself “champ champ” with a victory, as the fight will be for her 145-pound title.
