Submission! Watch Charles Oliveira force Jim Miller to tap in the first round at UFC Milwaukee

Charles Oliveira evened the score with Jim Miller earlier tonight (Sat., Dec. 15, 2018) at UFC on FOX 31 from inside Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, by finishing the lightweight veteran via first-round submission (rear-naked choke). Remember, Miller had defeated “do Bronx” via kneebar back at UFC 124 nearly eight years ago.

This fight didn’t last that long as Miller looked for an inside leg kick only to have Oliveira secure double under hooks and land an eventual slam to the canvas. Once there, the Brazilian sliced through Miller’s defense and started to pressure with a rear-naked choke. Miller fought the hands well for a little bit before “do Bronx” fixed his grip and forced Miller to tap for just the third time in his career.

With this performance, Oliveira secures his third-straight victory at 155 pounds and extends his current UFC record for most submission finishes to an astounding 12. Oliveira is doing some pretty impressive things at the lightweight level, but he still might be better suited dropping back down to featherweight. Maybe Oliveira’s finish over Miller tonight will convince UFC to give him another shot at 145 pounds.
